Chief John B. Gordon
August 11, 1931
Chief Gordon was killed in the line of duty while fighting a fire at a local radio station. He was the second chief of our department when it was staffed with only 13 paid firefighters. Chief Gordon believed strongly in teaching fire prevention to children. Please join us in keeping his memory alive & his sacrifice not forgotten. To us, he is more than a name on a plaque we've all but forgotten, he is our brother who showed up to work, answered the call for a fire, but did not return.
